Join us for an unforgettable kayaking adventure as we paddle to the scenic Big Stone Island Nature Area! Led by GFP staff, this journey starts at the Rearing Ponds Lakeside Use area, just 3 miles NW of Big Stone City. Once we reach the island, you'll get to explore its natural beauty and learn a little about its fascinating history. This adventure isn't just about kayaking—it's about immersing yourself in the beauty and heritage of Big Stone Island.
Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for both kayaking and exploring the island’s rugged terrain. Participants must be 14 years of age or older to join. Some kayaking experience is required. Sign up is required.
Kayaks can be rented for a fee of $15 with included lifejackets and paddles - To rent & reserve a kayak, please reach out to the park prior to the program at 605-432-6374 or [email protected] in advance - Or feel free to bring your own.
This program only allows for a maximum of 10 participants due to the size of the landing area on the island.
In the event of heavy wind or rain, the program will be rescheduled for a future date.
