Join us in Custer State Park this year in a new location for our 3D Archery Shoot.
The GFP/CSP 3D archery shoot is next week and we are looking forward to providing the best shoot we have ever had. Here are some details for you to help in travel, planning and enjoying your time. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have further questions. [email protected]
Date: May 30th 7-5 and 31st 7-noon. Come and go as you like.
Cost: The shoot is free but you must have a park enterence license. Can be purchased online, at any of the park gates or visitors center. Donation box will be at check-in for future targets. Please consider a small donation.
Location: Barnes Canyon Trail head. Please park to squeeze lots of vehicles. Parking at this location is much improved over last year's Center Lake. Shoot is located near the old airport on the east side of the wildlife loop. You can access the park by the main east gate or off ofhwy 79 taking LH road.
There are no tee times set so come anytime between 7-5:00 on Saturday and 7am-noon on Sunday. Those are the check-in windows. You can still be on the course after 5 and 7 those days. There are busy times and we will do our best to prevent bottlenecking. 7am and 4:00 isoptimaltimes to get started on the coursebut of course you can come anytime it works for you. 10-noon can be the busiest time. If you are looking for the cooler temps, hit those early or later hours.
Dress for the weather. Long pants would be encouraged, good hiking boots, small day pack with some water, snacks and sunscreen is a great way to be prepared.
There will be 60 total targets with a shorter 10 target loop included in the big loop as an option to go a shorter distance. The main loop is just over 2 miles. Shots will be 2 yards -102 yards trying to accommodate all levels of shooters. I like to throw a few long shots in and plenty of challenging shots but still leave room for easier shots and plenty of 20-40 yard targets.
PRIZES! new this year is that we have donations. Scheels has donated a cooler, bow cases and targets. Matson laboratorieshas donated, OnX has gave us some memberships and hopefully another donation has yet to arrive. Drawing will occur after the event and no need to be present. We will make sure to get you your prize if you are not local.
